Individual Health Insurance

Simply put, health insurance is protection against medical costs. A health insurance policy is a contract between an insurer and an individual or group, in which the insurer agrees to provide specified health insurance at an agreed-upon price (the premium).

Health insurance usually provides either direct payment or reimbursement for expenses associated with illnesses and injuries. The cost and range of protection provided by your health insurance will depend on your insurance provider and the particular policy you purchase. If your employer does not offer a health insurance plan, you may wish to purchase health insurance on your own.

Our agency provides individual PPO health plans underwritten by the following A.M. Best "A" rated health insurance companies:

Humana, UnitedHealthOne underwritten by Golden Rule Insurance Company, Cigna and Aetna.

(2) Pre-existing limitations are waived for either prior individual or group creditable coverage, if you had creditable coverage within the 63 days prior to your application date. (3) Preventive care does not require a waiting period. (4) Copay or coinsurance not required for well women exam, including Pap and mammogram, covered at 100%. Benefits are the same for male cancer screenings. (5) Copay or coinsurance not required for childhood immunizations up to age 18, covered at 100%. All plans include a preventive health (annual physical), not subject to the plan's calendar year deductible.

Health Savings Plans

As health care premiums continue to rise, those individuals seeking greater control of their health care dollars need to consider Health Savings type plans. If you have discretionary income and can take advantage of the tax benefits only available with a qualified health savings account, the after tax cost comparison to a plan with an office visit copay benefit and an Rx copay benefit can be substantial.
